Souls to the Polls in a Pandemic
Souls-to-the-Polls and Ballots-in-the-Mail
Tuesday, June 30, 8:00 PM.
As we near the final week before this important election during one of the most tumultuous and momentous times in our nation’s history, we would like to offer an opportunity to gather, pray, teach and act to promote the electoral franchise as wide, deep and broadly as possible throughout all of our communities and within our families.
Please join me, Pastor Colllins Days, Bishop Robert Hargrove and other prominent area faith leaders, Tuesday night at 8:00 PM, via Zoom, for a 45 minute Get-Out-the-Vote and Send-in-Your-Ballot prayer and teach-in service.
As many of us have already sent in our ballots, we must now make sure we get others to vote and make sure they know how. For some, it will be the first time, and, for many, the first time under these unique circumstances.
Black voters in this area are, as always, pivotal but only when they turn out. The gap between those who vote in the primary and those who only vote in the general is in the tens of thousands in the 2nd Congressional District.
This is the gap we need to close here and around the country to make ourselves and our people truly powerful enough to change real structures of inequity and racism.
