Clone of Lawrence Lustberg Honored at Year-End Celebration, Dec 14, 2023
Lawrence S. Lustberg, one of the most widely respected attorneys in New Jersey, is a Director at Gibbons P.C. and the long-time leader of the Firm’s John J. Gibbons Fellowship in Public Interest & Constitutional Law, which litigates historic, cutting-edge civil rights cases, including the current challenge the segregation of New Jersey’s public schools. A graduate of Harvard College (1979) and Harvard Law School (1983), Larry clerked for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, after which he served as an Assistant Federal Public Defender. Larry is former President of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey and of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey; he has served as Chair of the New Jersey State Advisory Committee of the United States Commission on Civil Rights and Co-Chair of the legislatively-created New Jersey Reentry Services Commission. Larry has served on the boards of many government commissions, court committees, philanthropies and non-profit organizations, including as Co-Chair of the Fund for New Jersey and Chair of Essex-Newark Legal Services. Larry is a renowned white-collar criminal defense attorney and civil rights lawyer, having litigated numerous high-profile public interest, constitutional and criminal cases at trial and on appeal, yielding many seminal federal and state court decisions. He is a Fellow of both the American College and International Academy of Trial Lawyers and is consistently recognized by numerous publications as one of the top lawyers in New Jersey, including several times the #1 lawyer in the State. In 2013, Larry was named “Lawyer of the Year” for his work in bringing same-sex marriage to New Jersey. He is the recipient of numerous honors including the highest recognitions awarded by the New Jersey State Bar Association, the ACLU of NJ, the Association of the Federal Bar of NJ, the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey, Legal Services of New Jersey the New Jersey Institute of Social Justice, Garden State Equality, Partners for Women and Justice, and the Trial Lawyers of New Jersey. |
